BREAKFAST CREEK HOTEL

One of the most famous drinking spots in Queensland, the Breakfast Creek Hotel is renowned for its premium quality steaks and “Beer off the Wood” – both of these being available 7 days a week. The beautiful Renaissance-style building and the lovely view over Brekky Creek make it well worth the visit.

NEWSTEAD BREWING CO.

For craft beer enthusiasts, we are within walking distance of two excellent breweries. The Newstead Brewing Co. lives on Doggett Street inside a 1940s steel warehouse. The vibe is comfortable and laid back, as patrons sit directly alongside the large, shiny brewing tanks.

GREEN BEACON

The Green Beacon Brewing Co. lies just around the corner on Helen St. also offering some really unique boutique brews. Green Beacon has a trendy, upbeat buzz and a food menu that consists of share plates, seafood, bagels and bar snacks; the entrance to the warehouse also plays host to a rotating roster of Brisbane’s best food trucks.

ALBION PARK RACEWAY

Lying directly behind us is Albion Park Raceway. There is greyhound racing every Monday and Thursday evening (from 6:30pm), every Wednesday afternoon (from 3:00pm) and every Sunday (from 5:00pm). Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights are for the horse harness racing. Admission is free at all meetings. Saturday night is probably the busiest and best, with the first race just after 5pm and the last finishing at 9pm.

CINEMA

If you want to catch a flick at any point during your stay the best option is to visit a Cineplex cinema by either catching the 300 bus to the South Bank or the City Cat ferry from Bretts Wharf across the river to Balmoral. South Bank has a bigger, multiplex feel; Balmoral is smaller, more luxurious and vintage cinema. A top tip is that adult tickets are just $6.50 all day on Tuesdays and all other weekdays before 6pm!
